USA Summer Training

Hello, advisor/director/coach! The USA instructional staff cannot wait to start working with you and your students. Below is information to help you prep and get to your USA summer training. See you soon!

  • Hyatt Regency Santa Clara (5101 Great America Pkwy, Santa Clara, CA 95054)

  • Camp Dates:  July 21-23, 2017

  • Every attendee is required to complete and bring a Release and Waiver Form.

  • Please check your invoice on the camp portal. If you have a balance due, it must be paid before your camp’s start date. To make the registration process run smoothly, please bring a copy of your method of payment (purchase order, school check, etc.) and a copy of your zero balance invoice.

  • Registration runs from 9 a.m. until noon. Upon arrival, look for signs in the hotel directing you to USA registration. The Varsity Camp Administration (VCA) staff wearing the red polo shirt will assist you with registration. Once you know the specific location of your rooms, unload your students and your belongings. Please get your team(s) to the Opening Ceremony meeting location by 1:30 p.m. for a 2 p.m. start.

  • Meals start with dinner on night 1 and end with breakfast on the last day.

  • Keep in mind that this is a closed camp. Parents/guardians, family and friends are welcome to support the students during the Home Routine Showcase on night 1 and during our Friday Night Lights Showdown and closing ceremonies on the last day beginning at 9:30 a.m. for Cheer and 10:30 a.m. for Dance. Thanks!

  • Overnight price includes admission to the Great America Theme Park and Waterpark. Teams will pick up their tickets at the Will Call desk and they are valid only 1 day between July 20-24, 2017.

Other Camp Notes

All Participants:

  • Completed and signed Release and Waiver Form
  • Practice clothes, tennis shoes/dance shoes, sweatshirt or jacket (Dressy clothes not necessary)
  • Sunscreen and Bug Spray
  • Notebook and pen/pencil
  • Water bottle to keep with you during class times
  • Spending money to use at the Varsity Spirit Shop (optional)
  • Most participants bring $50 – $55 for snacks, water, t-shirts, souvenirs, etc. (optional)
  • Matching uniforms/outfits for evaluations, etc. (optional) – Spirit and Dance Camps Only
  • MP3 player with speaker (these are not provided at camp). Note: Each school will receive a code which will allow you to download the USA Summer Camp music.
  • Activity equipment (e.g. poms, mascot costume, etc.).
  • Signs, poms, megaphones, banners and flags to incorporate into evaluation – Spirit Camps Only
  • Class Competition Night Attire (see info below)
Each year the USA chooses an inspirational theme to go along with the camp season that teams can use throughout the year at their own schools. This year’s theme is STRONG AS ONE! In creating your own signs, posters, t-shirts, etc. for camp, show how strong your team’s spirit can be!

GLOW for it at our “Class Competition” the final night of camp!

Get in the spirit by going all out in your “class color” after dinner. Get ready for a night of high energy fun! Class colors are as follows:

  • Seniors — CLASS OF 2018 – Pink
  • Juniors — CLASS OF 2019 – Blue
  • Sophomores — CLASS OF 2020 – Green
  • Freshmen — CLASS OF 2021 – Orange

We value your feedback! In addition to the curriculum specific How Was Camp form given on the last day of camp, we would love to have each coach attending camp provide their feedback via a short digital survey. Either text “USA” to 36698 or visit to get started!

Be part of something bigger! Please remind each participant to bring 2 addresses to camp to complete the 2 St. Jude letters for the Squad Credentialing program. Students completing 5 letters will receive a St. Jude pin!

Travel with the USA!

Students selected as All Americans at camp have the opportunity to travel to London with Varsity Spirit and perform in the London New Year’s Day Parade. Have fun meeting other spiritleaders, dancers and drum majors from across the country and make amazing memories that will last a lifetime!

Captains and co-captains have the opportunity to take part in the Varsity Spirit Spectacular in Orlando, Florida, while Superior Plaque winners can take part in a fun Citrus Bowl performance over New Year’s!
